Mushrooms which contain no thermolabile toxins belong to the group of edible mushrooms. They can be eaten without any special treatment, i.e. after cleaning, they are grilled, fried, marinated, smoked, pickled, depending on the species. Some can be eaten even raw. It is considered that there are between 70 000 and 100 000 so-called lower and upper species of mushrooms, although the latest researches move that possible number over one million. It is presumed that every out of 500 000 upper plant species is followed by one or two mushroom species, so it was not difficult to calculate the number.
